San Francisco Home Library Tour

Michael Swaine, whom I met through Katie and Paul (who were in SF when I was there, too) took 10 of us on a private tour of people’s home libraries. He had us fill out a questionnaire before the tour. Some questions were: “What book does everyone have in their library?” “What book are you most embarrassed to own?” “Which book would you save from a fire?” “How many books do you own?” “What percentage of those books have you read?” We talked about everyone’s private collections, the owners of the libraries read aloud from favorite passages and we discussed how their libraries were organized. It was pretty damn cool and I wish something like this would happen in NY.
