PEN American Center announces PEN Reads, an online reading group! Writers, translators, scholars and literary figures will write posts and have discussions about each book (the books lasting for five weeks a piece). By allowing readers to comment and post as well, PEN hopes to foster a connection between readers and writers, and promote dialogue.
The first novel currently up for discussion is Clarice Lispector’s The Hour of the Star. And Colm Tóibín already had something to say about it.
So take this opportunity to have a powwow with some real writers, to voice your opinions about literature to people who will care, and to share your observations (without Tweeting them)!
