One Story’s Literary Debutante Ball and Silent Auction

It’s not too late to get involved in tonight’s annual One Story (sold out) Literary Debutante Ball, which is essentially the Brooklyn version of the Royal Wedding. If you don’t already have a ticket, you won’t be able to sigh and swoon in person as you watch emerging writers Robin Black, Susannah Daniel, Seth Fried, Jerry Gabriel and Jim Hanas be escorted into the ballroom by their respective author/editor mentors, nor will you be able to watch One Story bestow special honors on novelist/memoirist Dani Shapiro.

However! Don’t put away your dancing shoes just yet. Just as you were up at 6am this morning to watch William and Kate tie the knot, wearing taffeta, sipping tea, and exchanging vows with your Shiba Inu (right, guys? That’s what you all were doing this morning, too, right??), you’ll still be able to participate in the Literary Deb Ball’s silent auction, curated by artist David Goodman. Over 50 works–from jewelry to photography to ceramics to paintings–all of which has been generously donated, will be up for grabs, and all bidding starts at 50-70% of the estimated value. All proceeds will benefit One Story, a 501 (c)(3) organization that brings you a singular dynamite story every three weeks. For instructions on how to fill out an absentee ballot for bidding, a list of participating artists, and to browse the online gallery, please visit One Story.
