Amanda tipped Team Intern off to a neat transition up on 47th st, where the formerly-Mercantile Library has become the Center for Fiction, “the only non-profit in the United States entirely devoted to this art form.” Besides the massive book collection, the center has studio space for writers, free readings in the “Books We Love” series, book clubs, events and talks that range from cheap to free, and is just a really lovely space in general. While I can’t say I’m always looking for a reason to go to Midtown, at the very least now I have one!

Membership is $8 bucks a month for students, $11 a month for “individuals,” and way worth it for everyone who likes fiction.
