Magathon and Lit Magazine Fair, June 19/20

This coming Sat/Sun is a dream weekend for lit mag lovers. On Saturday, New York Public Library hosts Magathon–its ‘marathon reading’ by editors of such faves as: A Public Space, AGNI, Anderbo, Bellevue Literary Review, canteen, Drunken Boat, Electric Literature, Fence, Lalitamba, The Literary Review, Lumina, MAKE: A Literary Magazine, The New York Quarterly, The Oxford American, Puerto del Sol, The Same, Skidrow Penthouse, St. Petersburg Review, Storyscape Journal, Slice, Vestal Review, Yankee Oracle Gazette, and ZEEK: A Journal of Thought and Culture (thanks to the Daily News for that list). The even runs from 4:00-6:30 and takes place at NYPL’s main branch, on 42nd and 5th.

On Sunday, keep the intellectual bender going at Housing Works’ 11th Annual Literary Magazine Fair, where mags will be discounted by more than 50%. Is this real? Does this happen in New York? I’m so confused. I thought this city only wanted to suck my wallet dry, not pad it with love and good feelings and $$.
The Mag Fair runs from 12-5pm at Housing Works Bookstore Cafe, 126th Crosby St. Go read what ya’ heard!
