Images from Hal Hartley’s The Heart is a Muscle |
Remember when we raved about how beautiful film director Hal Hartley’s photo book, The Heart is a Muscle, is? The one with all the stills and behind-the-scenes shots from films spanning his entire career? Yes? Well if you didn’t snag one of the limited edition copies when we told you to back in March, here’s your chance: powerHouse Arena in DUMBO will host Hartley in conversation with painter and critic Stephen Ellis next Wednesday, June 15. Your brain will thank you for exposing it to a stimulating arts talk in a funky Brooklyn bookstore, and once you buy the book, your coffee table will thank you for making it the most culturally hip piece of furniture on the block. If you’re the type with moxie, you can approach the director and ask him to sign your Heart. And if you’re the type who likes literary events because of all the free booze, rest assured that drinks will be served.
