There are few activities that make me happier than taking a lap or seventeen around the wildlife dioramas of Manhattan’s American Museum of Natural History, and one of them is constructing my own wildlife dioramas out of cotton balls, clay, pipe cleaners and Stride Rite shoeboxes. The thing about magnificent reconstructions of all manner of magical species that scamper over this green Earth, past and present, is that, like any hot-blooded creature, they need a little TLC from time to time. Jill Bauerle, HERS friend and creative genius behind the YouTube series Stacked Up, has produced a video about a diorama restoration in the Hall of Mammals. Enjoy it, below, in the name of enchantment and childhood memories.
